After finishing the opening weekend 3-0 with every match swept, Tennessee volleyball remained ranked No. 22 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. The Lady Vols took care of Colgate, Morehead State and Fairfield inside a 24-hour window.
Tennessee is led in kills by newcomers Kennedi Rogers (35) and Jalyn Stout (29). Caroline Kerr sets it all up and leads the way with 99 assists. Rogers and Stout, along with Raegan Burns, Kerr and Sydney Jaynes, each recorded double-digit digs across the matches.
Jaynes and Maggie Dostic lead the team from the service line with five aces apiece, and Kerr sits right behind at four. Tennessee even saw contributions from freshmen, such as Morgan Williams, Camille Perry, and Jolene Oddo. It was the kind of top-to-bottom production head coach Eve Rackham Watt said she is in no rush to narrow down.
“There’s a lot of depth. I feel really good about any person we put out there,” Rackham Watt said. “There’s a high level of trust for every player.”
Now the Lady Vols look to Tuesday night, where they will complete their fourth match in five days.
Tennessee will host the Illinois Fighting Illini for the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge. Illinois comes in 1-1, dropping a five-set match to Cincinnati and sweeping Syracuse. First serve Tuesday is set for 7 p.m. EDT at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center, televised on SEC Network.
