KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – It was announced Wednesday that Tennessee softball will begin the 2027 season at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
The Lady Vols began their season in the event the previous two years. In 2026, they swept the Leadoff Classic with five wins and outscored opponents 33-2. That included a 2-0 win over then-No. 5 Oregon.
For the 2027 tournament, the Lady Vols will begin with Northwestern on Feb. 11. Then on the 12th, they’ll play a doubleheader against Nebraska and North Carolina. Feb. 13 will bring a doubleheader with Virginia Tech and Long Island, and they will close with Liberty on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
Tickets are available through the city of Clearwater. Ticket prices include tax and a third-party fee. A link to tickets can be found HERE.
All games will be streamed live for free on the GameChanger app, with contests on fields 8 and 9 featuring a dedicated broadcast team and multi-camera views. GameChanger, an NFCA official sponsor, is the official streaming provider of the Division I Leadoff. Returning for a fourth consecutive year, select games will be broadcast on MLB Network during the event, with matchups, dates and times to be announced.
If you want to catch the Lady Vols before then, fall exhibition action begins Friday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. EDT at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Tennessee will host Walters State that night. Then, Sunday, Sept. 27, it will return to host Lipscomb at 3:30 p.m., for its second of seven fall games.
