MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Tennessee rolled past Middle Tennessee 24-1 in fall exhibition action on Sunday. The Lady Vols’ offense did damage up and down the lineup. Karley Shelton led the way with a grand slam and a three-run homer. Elsa Morrison went deep twice, a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run blast to left in the fifth.
Tennessee broke the game open with a 13-run fifth inning. In the circle, Sage Mardjetko set the tone with four scoreless innings and eight strikeouts. Erin Nuwer and Bailee Shelton combined to finish it off. After the game, head coach Karen Weekly broke down what she saw from her team in the exhibition game, and spoke on the great turnout in Murfreesboro. Morrison also talked about her two-homer day and how she’s feeling in her sophomore year at Tennessee.
Below are the unofficial stats from my account and YouTube links for both interviews.
