Tennessee softball and head coach Karen Weekly landed their fifth class of 2028 commit Tuesday in outfielder Caelyn Campos from Rocklin, Calif. Campos is the fourth-ranked player in the class, according to Softball America.
“I am so honored and blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Tennessee!” Campos posted on Instagram. “First and foremost, praise God for gifting me with the talents to get where I am today. #ag2g Next, thank you to my wonderful family for always providing for me, supporting me, and helping me through this process!
“I would like to thank every coach who has been a part of my journey and helped me be the person I am! Thank you to the whole Vol softball staff, Coach Karen, Coach E, Coach Megan, and Coach Aubrey for believing in me and giving me this opportunity! I am so excited to be a Lady Vol!”
Weekly and her staff continue to build in all areas. Campos is the first outfielder in this class. Her commitment comes just two days after the Lady Vols landed their first pitcher of the class in Reagan Eldred. According to Brady Vernon of Softball America, Campos is a lefty with power to all fields. She is a five-tool player who has elite speed on the bases and in the outfield. Campos plays for the OC Batbusters Stith 18u travel team, and Del Oro High School.
In the spring, Campos hit .485 with an OPS of 1.282, two home runs, 16 doubles, 21 RBIs and 32 runs scored. On the base paths, she stole 26 out of 27 bases, according to GameChanger.
The Lady Vols continue to bring in talent from California. Three of the five 2028 commits are from the state. The other two are Nevaeh Wilson and Sophia Galindo. Tennessee also received a commitment from Clarksville, Tenn., native Kenzie White, who was the first of the class to announce.
