Tennessee football is set to host the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Sept. 26 at noon EDT, and the high-profile matchup will also bring ESPN’s College GameDay to campus. It marks the 13th time Tennessee has hosted the show, with last season’s game against Georgia the most recent visit.
So what is the Vols’ record when GameDay comes to town? They are 5-7 all-time when the show sets up in Knoxville. Per Tennessee Athletics, GameDay will broadcast from Ayres Hall from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The final hour will move inside Neyland Stadium and lead up to the noon kick on ABC.
With the game serving as the ABC game of the week, the lead broadcast team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe will be on the call. Both Tennessee and Texas head into the week at 3-0 as conference play begins.
Both teams took care of business Saturday night to set up the top-15 clash at 3-0. No. 15 Tennessee wrapped up its non-conference slate with a 42-9 win over Kennesaw State at Neyland Stadium, getting 178 passing yards and a pair of scores from Faizon Brandon and a 116-yard, one-touchdown night on the ground from Daune Morris.
Top-ranked Texas had a tougher time of it, grinding out a 30-6 win over UTSA in Austin behind two early Arch Manning touchdown passes to Cam Coleman. Manning finished 17-of-33 for 164 yards.
